Baking a cake with ALISON ROMAN!
After pre-ordering Alison Roman’s new book ‘Sweet Enough’ I was delighted to learn about the chance to win an invitation to a Zoom cooking lesson with the queen herself. And I was even more delighted when I learned that I won one of the 200 coveted “seats”!
We baked a ‘(Cottage) Cheese Cake’, which is decidedly more cake than cheese. More precisely, it is a cake with cheese in it. But certainly not a cheese cake. — Alison made hers with rhubarb, while we used extremely firm peaches. February is definitely not the best time to be buying stone fruits in Nova Scotia. And I don’t even know where one might find rhubarb. Nevertheless, the cake was delicious! And I know it would be even better with fresh fruit in the summer.
One thing that Alison did note, is that the cake is incredible with Bananas. She suggested it might even be better than banana bread. We’ll have to try that next time, as bananas are always available, and always ripe when you need them to be!
